When compared to traditional media, such as radio, TV or newspaper, Facebook trumps them for a variety of reasons. In this article I’m going to discuss the top 5 reasons you should start using Facebook advertising for your business now.
1. Your potential customers are there
Many businesses come to me and tell me that their customers aren’t on Facebook. My reply is always “I can guarantee you they are”. Facebook has over 1 billion people actively using the platform every month. They recently had 1 billion people using the platform in a single day.
That’s not the only thing, it’s still growing. Facebook’s user base continues to grow. The number of people who actively use it daily is growing too.
I’d be very surprised if you couldn’t find a percentage of your target audience in the 1 billion people on Facebook. Now, you might argue they’re not on Facebook to buy, but that’s where clever advertising comes into play.

Facebook ads, when set-up and run properly can be one of the cheapest ways to send targeted traffic to your website.
You can spend as little as £1 per day on Facebook (In the US, it’s even cheaper at $1 per day). Even with a small budget like this, you’re still able to reach thousands of people that meet your targeted criteria.
Just take this example from some work we did with a client. We had people driving to their landing page for only 10p per day. Over 1,400 people hit that page in the space of around 10 days and 50% converted into email sign ups.
You’d be lucky to get anywhere near that price with any other sort of advertising.

The reason Facebook advertising is so popular and successful is because of the ability to laser target potential customers. You’re able to target people on:
- Relationship status
The list goes on. You can also create ads to target people who have visited your website. Even better, lookalike audiences are one of the best features, where you can take your current mailing list and target ads to people that are similar to those on your list.
4. Tracking capabilities
Unlike most forms of advertising, you are able to track everything. From the number of people who viewed your advert, all the way through to the number of people that saw your ad, clicked on it and then purchased your product. When you advertise on TV, for example, you have no idea how many people actually watched that advert and then took and action on it.
You’re provided with a range of analytics such as:

- Cost per conversion
And the list goes on.
